Meet Neil Russell

Twenty years of clinical practice. One private clinic on the Central Coast.

I'm Neil — Accredited Exercise Physiologist, ESSA-registered, and the founder of Atleta. I've spent two decades helping people move better, recover stronger and stay in the sports they love. From elite NRL athletes to weekend golfers, post-op rehab clients to expecting mums, my job is the same: build the body so it does what you ask of it.

Today I run a private Health & Performance Clinic in Erina on the Central Coast of NSW, and consult with clients across Australia by phone and video. Whether you're rebuilding after surgery, managing a chronic condition, or simply want to play your sport into your seventies — the Atleta approach is the same: assess properly, train precisely, review often.

How I work

Clinical rigour. No fluff. Long-term thinking.

Most exercise advice is too generic to help, or so technical it's impossible to follow. My approach sits in between: clinical-grade assessment translated into a clear, doable program that fits your week, your goals and your body.

I'll spend the first hour really listening — your history, your imaging, what's working, what isn't. Then we'll test your movement properly. Only then do we build a plan. And we review it every four weeks, because bodies don't read protocols.

If you're working with a GP, surgeon or physio, I'll communicate with them. If you're an NDIS client, I'll handle the reporting. If you live three hours away, we'll work over phone or video. The goal is always the same: build a body that lets you live the life you want, well into your seventies and beyond.

Outside the clinic

I practice what I preach.

When I'm not in clinic, you'll find me in the surf, on the course — or coaching my daughter's soccer team. The same training principles I use with clients are the ones keeping me playing the sports I love.

Surfer

Most mornings, Central Coast breaks. Year-round, in any conditions.

Golfer

A keen amateur — and yes, the back stays happy because the program works.

Soccer coach

Coaching my daughter's team. Best part of the week.
