Most people do not stop playing because they got old.
They stop because an injury took six months to settle, then came back, then took longer the second time. The sport did not become impossible. The recovery capacity that used to absorb poor preparation quietly stopped being there.
What replaces it is preparation. Strength, tissue capacity, power output and mobility maintained deliberately rather than assumed. That is unglamorous work, and it is the difference between playing golf at seventy-five and talking about when you used to play golf.
Built around the demands of your sport.
Assess movement and capacity
A performance assessment covering mobility, strength, power and the specific movement patterns your sport demands. A golfer's rotational capacity and a runner's single-leg load tolerance are different problems.
Train the sport, not a template
Programming is built from the actual demands: rotational power for golf and tennis, paddling endurance and shoulder capacity for surfing, single-leg strength and elastic capacity for running.
Prevent the predictable injuries
Every sport has a short list of injuries it reliably produces. Programs include specific work targeting those tissues before they become the reason you stop.
Periodise around your season
Planned build, peak and deload phases so you are strongest when it matters and not accumulating fatigue into your competitive period.
Twelve weeks of structured work.
Movement and performance testing
Baseline mobility, strength, power and sport-specific movement screening, plus a conversation about your season and what you actually want to be able to do.
General strength foundation
Building the underlying strength and tissue capacity that sport-specific power work sits on top of.
Sport-specific power
Converting general strength into the rotational, elastic or endurance qualities your sport actually uses.
Sharpen and deload
Reduced volume, maintained intensity, and re-testing against your week one numbers to decide what the next block should target.
Is performance work the right fit?
This is a good fit if
- You play a sport you want to keep playing for decades
- You are over forty and picking up niggles you did not used to get
- You want structured strength and conditioning, not a gym program
- You are a masters athlete with competitive goals
- You have had a recurring injury that keeps interrupting your season
- You want your training periodised around your season
This is not the right fit if
- You are currently injured and need rehabilitation first
- You want general fitness rather than sport performance
- You are unable to train consistently across a twelve-week block
- You are looking for skills or technique coaching in your sport
